Good Spirits

It’s been a good couple of days.  Friday morning I woke up in a funk and was a bit down.  Nothing really wrong per se.  I think the being cooped up was getting to me.  Anyway, Friday afternoon my buddy Frank totally surprised me by showing up at my door unannounced.  It was just what the doctor ordered.  I couldn’t have been more delighted and it immediately put me in a better mood.  We hung out, caught up over sushi and spent the evening watching Tivo and movies. [1]He is a big fan of Jon Stewart too!

Today, we had breakfast (and lunch) with Adam.  Afterwards, I hobbled over to Adam’s place with the group and we played MarioKart and Soul Caliber IV.  It was so nice to feel like my old self again and just enjoy hanging out.  I think it was just what the doctor ordered!

Afterwards, Frank tagged along to help me shop for a new bike.  I’ve forged a strong relationship with a dealer here in the city.  The same guys I bought my scooter and my last bike from.  They happened to have 2 bikes I was interested in, a Yamaha R6 and a Suzuki GSXR.  I was originally leaning toward the R6 only because they told me the GSXR was red.  I do not care for red at all for a vehicle color.

Well, I got there and they had a surprised for me.  They had 2 GSXR’s.  One red and one blue!  I think I pee’d a little I was so excited.  Needless to say, I chose the Blue GSXR750.  Wahoooo!

GSXR750

Here is a pic of the exact bike.  Did you touch yourself yet?  I know I did.  I finish the paperwork this week and should be able to bring it home by Friday.  Keep your fingers crossed all goes according to plan!

We Can Rebuild Him…

I thought I’d share my x-rays for all to see how bionic I am now. hehehe

Broken Bone - Closeup

This is the best one.  Notice how much the two bones are overlapping.  I would have lost a significant amount of motion had I not opted for the surgery.  Also, take a close look at the top bone.  There is a tiny broken piece sticking off the end.  This one was completely loose and just sort of floating between the muscles.  The doc had originally planned to remove it but ended up keeping it.

Broken Bone

This one was to check my ribs.  While 2 of them got bruised up quite a bit there were no fractures.  Yay!  I was scared I’d end up with a flail segment (read very painful).  I also found out my 2nd rib had been broken before unbeknownst to me.  He said the injury was so old it could have happened when I was a child.

Fixed

And here is the finished product.  The metal looks a tad larger than it actually is from the angle and the refraction. [1]Metal and bone are of different density hence they refract differently  Notice the little roundish looking blob of metal.  That is actually a screw holding the tiny piece that was broken off completely.  The doc says the breaks were clean enough he could keep it.  Now notice the line on the bottom of the bone.  See how even it looks?  That means the bone should heal up nicely.  The doc says I should retain about 98% of the motion and range.

Sadly, it will be a least a month if not two before I’m hitting the weights with any significant intensity.  I go back in 3 weeks for physical therapy (if needed).  The good news is I’ll still be able to lift weights in the future.  Had I not had the surgery that would not have been the case.

I had several folks asking why I was planning on getting another bike.  Well, the easiest answer is because I want one. *G*  I find the question a bit odd actually.  No one ever asks a person who survives a car crash why they are getting another car.  heeheee

Remind me some day soon to regale you with the gory tribulations of trying to perform normal bodily functions/maintenance w/just one hand.  lol

Rooster + Pork?

Recently, not one but two of my blog buddies sent me T-shirts in the mail.  This pic was sent by Large Tony.  I absolutely love it!  He was worried if I would wear it.  Hell, I’ve already worn it 3 times. lol  *Thanks T, I greatly appreciate it!*

Oddly enough, the 2nd shirt is also black and was sent by an anonymous source.  When I get time to wear it, I’ll snap off a pic.

My weekend is fast coming to a close.  Friday, I spent about 3 hours doing continuing education for my Fire training.  I’ve mentioned before I’m a training Officer for the Fire civilianization project.  I previously went down to SFO to see Fire operations at the airport.  This time I got to drive all over the bay in one of the 2 fireboats owned by the Fire department.  It was awesome of course!

The Phoenix - Full Shot

This trip is normally reserved for Supervisors and Managers.  There were a couple of snarky comments made in the background questioning whether I should be there.  I was happy to hear the Fire training manager silence them with a curt explanation. [1]Forgetting for a moment, I have more fire/medical training than most of them combined.  I don’t understand petty power trips at all . Anyway, you can click over to flickr for a full rundown on the pics.  I tried to take a few more this time even though some are pretty much the same picture.

Saturday was pretty low key.  The Latin came into town and we spent a good chunk of the day just hanging out.  I hadn’t seem him lately, we had fun.  We also decided to go see the Batman flick.  I’d been wanting to see it and he hadn’t seen it either so it worked out great.  The movie was exceptional!  Much better than I ever expected and way better than part I.  Keith Ledger turned in one of the best performances of his career.  Not to mention, the plot was very complex and constantly evolving.

Latin & Moby

He took off to go bar hopping with some coworkers and I met up with Adam for Sushi for dinner.  Brad is at a conference so it was just the two of us.  We were caddy as usual.  Afterwards, we hung out at 440 Castro (aka the old Daddies bar) with Dan.  Ironically, we spent a good chunk of time watching the Olympics while there. lol  We watched this one chick slaughter the entire competition in a long distance run.  Even if we kept laughing at how emaciated and hungry she looked.

I didn’t stay more than a couple hours. [2]I get bored in bars easily these days w/o some sort of carnal distraction.  hehehe.  I left the boys and came on home.

So now, I’m just finished uploading pics to flickr, made myself a yummy egg/bacon bagle, caught up on Tivo, and replaying thru Gears of War.  GoW 2 is due out in November and I can’t wait!

Not a bad weekend.  Not too terribly busy but still managed to be preoccupied.

Ok so I’m done tinkering with the blog. [1]Well, there are a couple of minor bugs I still need to iron out.  The big sitemeter drama this past week was a blessing in disguise.  It forced me to update my template to a newer version.  The code on this one is simpler and better organized.  I also converted all my personal tweaks to widgets instead of manually tinkering with the code.  Well, everything except the pop-up comments.  I didn’t quite get that working correctly.  I got close but the glitch is simply beyond my knowledge base and I haven’t a clue how to fix it.  I guess I’ll have to settle w/page reloads for comments.

Last week was my change of watch at work.  I only got Saturday off.  I spent the evening playing Soul Caliber IV w/Adam and Brad.  It is sort of an updated version of the old Mortal Combat game.  Anyway, the game has a unique unlock function.  After you get so many skill points, you can choose to have the characters strip down to their undies while they fight. [2]You just know a gay guy had a hand in the code for this game.  I had a blast.  We played games, gossiped, and gorged on pizza.

This week has been a bit hectic.  I’ve had a slew of Union meetings to catch up on at work.  Not to mention catching up on domestic chores at home.  Ugh.  Today was my first real day back in the gym.  I loved it!  Now that I’m back on my old schedule, I plan on getting back on track w/my weight loss program.  Remember my plan to get lean?  Well, I fell off the wagon.  Mostly, because of my schedule.  I know, excuses, excuses.  Anyway, I’m back at it, cut me some slack.  And lord knows, the weight I got ain’t hurtin’ me none.

Not the MAC version.  I am referring to yours truly.

Airplane Moby

I have no idea what possessed me to snap a shot in the airplane bathroom but it just seemed like a good idea.  My lovely phone cam is such high quality, can you tell?

As I mentioned earlier, the flights down were a tad stressful wondering if I was gonna make it but all went fine.  Phoenix overall was great.  The short description, hot and sticky.  I also got to meet a new blog buddy, Brent, who I’ve been supporting/chastising for almost a year now.  It took the act of Congress to drag Brent out to Charlie’s.  Frank and I discovered it was his birthday weekend and were determined not to let him sulk at home.

Needless to say, I had a blast. lol  Frank immediately ran into one of his friends named Steve.  The man was the epitome of big hairy, muscular, beefy bear.  He got a big WOOF!  While him and Frank flirted, I was left to my own devices.  A rather tall, lean fuzzy dude kept eye-balling me and before long he came over and said "hi". [1]By hi, I mean I put my tongue down his throat for about 10-15 minutes  Being a good friend, I wasn’t about to abandon my group so we arranged for some quality time later.  Of which, he flaked on.  I’d already gotten the idea he might be a bit high maintenance but a hard cock has no conscience. [2]yes, you can borrow that

Frank was feeling better and we did make it to the gym one day.  The gym was one of the Q gyms that 24 Hour Fitness gobbled up.  The Q gyms have the exact same layout no matter where you go.  I have to say, Phoenix has its share of hotties.  The crowd was very mixed with several juicy tidbits for Frank and I to drool over.  That said, I can report the shower and steam room was nothing like SF.  A practical wasteland of emptiness.  Well that is not exactly true.  There were plenty of old trolls lurking in the steam room but just not the gay kind.

Frank opted to drive me around a bit.  I doubt I’d ever move to Phoenix but not a bad City overall.  Next time, I’d like to get in some hiking and outdoor stuff for sure.

Phoenix

I’m sitting in the Phoenix airport waiting for my flight back to Houston.  The trip down was uneventful if a little stressful.  TFA allows me to fly on his benefits so I get to fly for dirt cheap however, I fly stand by.  The other downer is I have to fly thru the airline’s hub.  This meant flying from SFO to HOU and back to PHX.  Considering how much it saved me in cash, I didn’t mind at all. [1]And yes, I plan on showing him my gratitude in person

Flying standby is a tad nerve racking as you are never quite sure till the last minute if you are going to make a full flight.  Both my flights coming in were full.  The SFO to HOU flight, I made it only because the desk clerk was family [2]read gay and liked my look. (If you got it, work it.)  He boosted another passenger to first class which freed up a coach seat for moi.  Very nice of him. Two of the flight attendants were men. [3]read gay, again  The Latin one practically fell over himself flirting with me.  I was sure to text TFA afterwards and ask him what was up with all the slutty flight attendants. hehehe

The 2nd flight was overbooked but a connecting flight was late so I once again lucked out.  I even got a seat w/extra leg room.  All of the flight crew were women so nothing to report.

My buddy Frank had hurt his back so we couldn’t do a lot but he was feeling better and we still managed to have a good time.  Apparently, Phoenix was overcast this past weekend so the temps only got into the frigidly low 100’s.

Frank & Brent @ Pei Wei

I did get a chance to meet fellow blogger and twitter buddy, Brent.  I’m not sure why he is so reserved or shy.  He warmed up to us quickly and was very engaging.  That said, Frank and I had to practically threaten him with bodily harm to get him to go out with us.  It was his birthday weekend (be sure to hop over and wish him a happy belated) and we were determined NOT to let him sit home and hide out.  Finally, he relented and we ended up at Charlie’s (Country Western bar).  Frank ran into one of his friends who was this short, buff, and hairy hottie, aka Steve.  Steve gives new meaning to the term WOOF!

I managed to make a new ‘friend’ of my own  hehehe  Actually, he started it, I just finished it.  I’m not really sure why everyone seemed so surprised when we started kissing.  I mean, I did wait 15 minutes into the conversation to mug out.  That has to be a record or something.

I could write more but it will have to wait.  My flight is here and there are 3 hairy hotties getting on board.  Since I’m standby, I get to board last.  I am determined to get a seat next to one of them.

SFO

I often bitch a lot about my job and the complexities it entails.  That said, there are times when I get unique opportunities.

Star

*A real pic taken today. No zoom function, I was this close*

Today was one such opportunity.  I got to go out to SFO airport as part of my continuing Fire Specialization training.  As an instructor for dispatchers learning Fire duties, it is my responsibility to teach all aspects of the response patterns.  Part of that includes airport emergencies.

A group of managers and myself got to tour the SFO comm. center and Fire stations.  We also got a field tour of the entire airport.  I enjoyed the trip immensely.  Beside being very educational, seeing such massive carcasses of metal taking off so close is a very surreal experience.  To this day, it still boggles my mind how we can force such amazingly large heavy objects into the air.

Floor it Clyde!

*me sitting in the driver’s seat for the airboat.  Click on any of the pics to hop over to my flickr account.*

I also got a chance to see all the unique Fire apparatus specifically used for fires on airplanes.  Being on the water, the above pic is me sitting in the driver’s seat of a very large airboat.  This badboy was about 3 times the size of airboats I grew up crashing in the swamplands of Louisiana.  The bad-ass engine here is an 8.1 liter fuel-injected 525 horsepower monster.  It could propel the boat down a dry runway at 60 miles an hour easy.

Poker

*look carefully at the long cylindrical pipe with the sharp point on the end*

The sharp stake here is used to pierce the skin of an aircraft and inject foam directly onto a burning fire.  I kept picturing the brain bug from Starship Troopers looking at this thing.  Only instead of sucking stuff out, it pumps foam.  You can’t see it but the prong attaches to an articulating boom that can rise over 75ft into the air.

Needless to say, I an awesome time today.  I didn’t want to leave.  I could have spent the rest of my shift playing w/gadgets, poking buttons, pulling levers, etc.  The trip gave me some great insights into how Fire depts. handle airport Fires.

Weekend Roundup

Well, Gay High Holy Day #1 2008 has come and gone.  It was a busy weekend but very enjoyable.

I had an off day Friday so hung out, got errands done, etc.  I was still feeling a little blech but managed to make it to the gym.

Saturday day was pretty laid back.  My buddy Frank made it in from Phoenix.  I wasn’t too sure he’d make it but glad he did.  He is a good egg and more than a little handsome.

Frank

“Ray”, Frank, and myself all headed for lunch at Firewood.  It was the most crowded I’d ever seen it.  Every single table was full minus two.  By the time we left there was a line forming out the door.

Ray & Frank

Saturday night we went over to Adam & Brad’s new place for an intimate get together.  The boys got the new pad all decked out and looking great.  I think everyone involved had a great time.  I also got a chance to play on their Wii.  I was really impressed w/the design and layout of the console. [1]Mine is now on back order  I also got to design my own avatar which everyone said bore a real resemblance. heehee   Anyway, the evening was a success in my book.  Between playing Wii bowling and the straight Irish boys that appeared out of nowhere, I think everyone had a great time.

Brad & Frank Gaming

Someone told me not to bring food so we all ended up practically starving to death.  That is until Dominos delivered at 12:30 am.  Afterwards, we all sat around feeling fat and sassy play Smash Mario Bros.

Sunday was parade day.  I’m sad to say I made it a bit late to the festival.  Frank and I both slept late.  We got there about half way thru the parade.  Adam and Brad were starving and I got to watch them devour some hot dogs within seconds. [2]In true Southern fashion, they can put away some food when properly inspired. lol   We also ran into Victor, Tony, and little Bruno at the festival afterwards.  Bruno is so adorable and growing like a weed.

Tony & Vic

On our way out, we stopped by Faery Village and saw masturbator 1 & 2. lol  I’ll never understand the lure of standing in front of hundreds, if not thousands, of complete strangers having sex.   As brave as I am, I couldn’t just stand and beat off in front of thousands of unknown people.  There was the one guy who is there almost every year.  This year he was lying down.  I can report his ass wasn’t so attractive.  The other guy had a fantastic bod and cock but was wearing a very dorky distracting Skeletor head mask.  They were both just wanking away.  There were other naked guys [3]Side rant: Why is it always the fat fugly guys that parade around butt naked? but none worth mentioning.

Afterwards, we scarfed down a meal at the food court in the new Westfield mall before seeing Wall-E on the big screen.  Brad commented this “was his new favorite mall.”  Anyway, I highly recommend the movie.  If you like the Pixar franchise you will love Wall-E.  The plot was wonderfully engaging and thought-provoking while still maintaining a high level of entertainment.  Definitely worth the money to see it on the big screen.

Today, Frank and I were slugs.  We had lunch, a movie, dinner, and a nap all before he had to fly back home to Phoenix.  I definitely need to him the gym again tomorrow.  I could write more but I’m flat bone tired and sleep is about to take me.  A few more pics posted on the flickr account if you care to see.

And how was your weekend?

Feeling better?

Originally uploaded by ibod8x5

I’m back in the saddle, so to speak. Today was my first day back at the gym. I’m still sniffling a little but all of the chest congestion is gone. I took it easy today and only got about half my normal work out in. My energy isn’t 100% yet so easing myself back into it. Nothing worse than getting better and then inadvertently sabotaging it w/too much physical exertion.

Speaking of the gym, I have not one but two new future ex-husbands. heehee One guy either just switched gyms or just moved here because I’ve never seen him before. He must have a similar schedule because I see him almost daily now. He doesn’t really give me any eye contact but that never stops me from drooling.

OH! I totally forgot. Adam/Brad saw “the hammer!” You can ask them how big it is.

In other news, it is hot as hell here. A whopping 80 degrees! It is a veritable heat wave. Actually, it is in the low 70’s today which is much more bearable. I was chatting with my buddy Frank from Urswine Addiction and he mentioned it was 111 in Phoenix yesterday. Holy hell! I would literally dry up and blow away. AND, he works outside. He is a braver man than me. Course, all that physical labor has him looking all buff. There are worse fates.

Even better, it is Friday and I’m back on my regular schedule for it. Speaking of, it is almost that time. Crap, time to go. TGIF boys (and girl). Have a whore-ific weekend.
