It’s So Foggy Out & Ramblings

I went to see the remake of The Fog last night w/Bobby. Not bad for a remake in my opinion. It has what’s-his-name from Smallville as one of the lead characters. God he is so hot. Anyway, they didn’t flesh the plot out as much as I would have liked but not bad. There were a few scary scenes as well. Bobby hated it of course. Not sure why but I gave up trying to figure that out years ago.

I’m on fire side at work again today. Nice and slow so far. I’ve been busy w/academy classes this week. I teach CAD (computer) training to the new dispatch class. They seem to be doing well so far. I really tried to encourage them to work as a collective group and they seem to be doing it. (I have to be careful what I write here as I discovered some of them read my blog!) heee heee heee

My tanning bed trip wasn’t too bad. I really like the results from just the first tan so far. I’m back tomorrow for session 2. I should be perfectly lightly tan by the time I hit FTL. That reminds me, I gotta get a new bathing suit. SHIT! totally forgot that. I’ll try and work that into the weekend. Course, I may have to wait till the trip. Swimsuits aren’t exactly prime wear here right now.

I’ve been really good at hitting the gym this week too. I’ve been slacking as of late due to my hectic schedule. I’m blissfully sore all over today. I did my glutes/quads yesterday and I could barely walk this morning. I had to soak in the jacuzzi for a bit to loosen up.

..And We DON’T Accept No Food Stamps!

After work last night, Bobby dragged me kicking & screaming to the midnight showing of Friday the 13th III in 3D! Captured here is the sheer terror on my face at the discovery.

Moby Insane!

I quickly recovered from my 80’s flashback shock syndrome and decided it would be kinda fun. After all, I’d never seen the 3D version on the big screen. Of course, Bobby was thinking we needed to show up hours early, I quickly squashed that delusion. While it did have a good turnout, it wasn’t like the release of Star Wars or Star Trek. I’d say probably couple hundred people all total.

After a late night snack at Orphan Andy’s, we waddled over to the theatre. Here we are getting “in the mood” so to speak.

Choke that Hoe!

EEEEEEK!

We stood in line very close to the front for about 35 minutes. It was a bit nippy out and I had already commandeered Bobby’s fleece warm up so he froze while we were waiting. We had the pleasure of standing behind this gaggle of drunk twinkies in cheap knock-off hockey masks. They kept bouncing between the line to get in and Daddy’s (bar). You can picture the scene I’m sure.

So we finally got in out of the chill, got our beverages and quickly took our seats. Here we are in anticipation of the movie. I might add the glasses we are wearing are from the original release in 1982. Bobby is a fanatic when it comes to the Friday the 13th/Halloween franchises. You don’t even know to what degree.

Go!

Bobby didn’t believe me when I told him there would be lots of yelling. Sure enough we were surrounded by a cacophony of cat calls, screams, yells, and chants. We gave as good as we got though. There is one scene toward the end I couldn’t resist. The main female character is the only one left alive at this point. She just spent the night asleep in a canoe out in the middle of the water. She hears a sudden sound and is frightened by this mallard duck suddenly landing in the water. Right as the scene quited down I yelled “AFLAC!” Bobby laughed so hard I thought he might fall out of his seat.

So all in all, we had a good time. I didn’t get to bed till late and I’m paying for it today but it was worth it.

Incoherent Ramblings II

The only successful task I’ve completed today is watching reruns of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. I used to be an avid fan but I stopped after things kept getting weird. I regretted missing the season where Tara gets killed and Willow goes mental. (Tara and Willow were lesbian lovers.) I never seem to be able to catch the episode when Giles comes back and teaches Willow the finer points of magic. Well thank god for TIVO! I’ve managed to catch up and tomorrow is the big event. *giggle*

I also caught a great documentry on Logo about the Harvey Milk murder back in the late 70’s. Not knowing a lot about it, I found it moving, eduational, and shameful all at the same time. The guy who shot and killed Harvey Milk only got 5 years in prison, he got out and tried to pick up his life as if nothing ever happended. He showed no remorse for what he’d done thru the whole ordeal. He killed himself shortly after his release. Apparently, he was depressed over not being able to pick up his life where he left off.

I signed up for Comcast High Speed Internet on Monday and the cable tech dropped of the install kit and modem today. Within 10 minutes of cracking open the box, I had my cable internet up and running. Seamless and painless. Hello SBC? Are you listening? Speaking of SBC, they are giving me grief about cancelling my account. After going online to cancel, I get an email requesting account details, no problem. I get a follow up email requesting confirmation of my request to cancel. Today, I get a third email telling me I need to call them to cancel. WTF? Why go thru the trouble of offering the ability to cancel your account online if I’m still gonna have to call, get put on hold for an eon, and then have to answer 50 questions about why I’m cancelling, blah blah blah. Just cancel my fucking service already! *oom-rah….ooom-rah….ooom-rah* Better now.

So, I’m catching up on my Blogroll today and stumbled across this gem. . .

Dragon Thong
*giggle* It’s cute and ridiculous all at the same time. I can’t wait to see it turn up in porno’s. Well, if I watched porno’s. *note to self, start watching porno.*

Moving on, I’ve been neglecting my podcasting lately. I was off to a blazing start then *fizzle*. I’ll try to get one in this week. I’m sure you’re just holding your breath in anticipation right?

Yeah, me neither.

Transporter 2

If you haven’t seen the original, you definitely should rent it on DVD and watch it. Part 2 is due out in early September. Jason Statham is fire hot in my opinion. Not to mention, if you like good action flicks, it’s chock full of action.

Jason Statham

Here is Jason in the first one taking out a slew of bad guys inside a bus. Even knowing the sequence was planned, I can’t help but be amazed at how smooth he pulls it off.

I think maybe I’m just frisky today. I have been a good boy all week.

Now Here’s Using Your Head

I don’t buy music cd’s anymore. Primarily due to the greed of the industry and their strong arm approach to file sharing. I’d be a liar if I said I never ripped music. What is the difference from copying it off the radio or copying a file? Same quality, same music? Never understood that one. I also see the need for the artists’ to make a buck. What I don’t get is the flat grab for cash that the RIAA has made to prevent online sharing. Their tactics are shameful at best. Beating up your consumer base does nothing to encourage them to buy your product. Duh! To date, illegal file sharing has only made the smallest dent in the music industry’s sales. All their fake studies have fallen by the wayside.

Being a huge movie fan, I’ve been fearful the movie industry would go the same route. This article from Wired mag gives me hope that maybe, just maybe the movie industry isn’t as anxious to squash their only source of income.

“We’re going to bypass what the music industry had to come up with, and that’s to get ahead of the whole piracy thing,” Freeman told reporters at Sun Valley. (full story)

Apparently, Morgan Freeman has joined forces w/some big logos in attempt to make online movie sharing easy. Time will tell I guess but w/more forward thinking and less backward thinking, I think we’ll find a middle ground that is acceptable to all involved.

Star Wars

None of my cohorts are free to go w/me this weekend to see the new Star Wars flick. *collective awwwwww*

So, I’m forced to go on my own tomorrow during the day before work. Aren’t you sad for me?

Spooky Moulder!

My friend Bobby and I went to see the new Amityville Horror movie yesterday before work. Overall, it was a good remake. They made some changes to the plot but the overall story is the same. There were some decent scary scenes as well. That said, we both felt the original was better. Ryan Reynolds turned in a spectacular performance and looked pretty damned good at it too! This was kind of a different role for him. He normally does comedic stuff. Even in Blade:Trinity he was sort of a comic relief. This time he was all serious, all man, and left me definitely wanting more. *EG*

Random Giggles, Ooohs, and Aaaahs!

You HAVE to skip over and read homer‘s Ode to the Nipple!

For all my scifi nuts, Steven Spielberg is directing the remake of Orsin Wells’ War of the Worlds! Can you believe it? WOW’s was one of the first scifi movies I saw growing up. Always thought it was well made for its time. I hope they deliver on the remake. Course, w/old Spiely in the directors chair, its bound to be over the top! The trailers can be seen in a bit larger format here. I soo es’cited!
