Trip II

I just booked my flight for Fort Lauderdale in October.  Cross your fingers that another hurricane doesn’t tear them a new asshole this year.  I didn’t get to go last year and I’m still smarting from it.

I got bumped from my ride along this morning. Such is life.  I went home and crawled my butt right back in bed.  I didn’t get many errands done over the weekend so now that I’m up and about again, I might as well be productive.

Drop pants off to be hemmed .  .  . check

Pick up meds for nose .  .  .  check

Laundry  .  .  .  You are joking right?

Check the mail  .  .  .  check

Wash the bike  .  .  .  not done

Start new blog  .  .  .  check
Ok, what did I forget?  I know I’m forgetting something!

In other news, I’m thinking I might buy myself a new laptop for xmas this year.  The Dell is still chugging along however, it’s kinda heavy.  I know I’m speaking blasphemy so any MAC fanatics turn your head.  I might get the 17″ powerbook and just run windows on it. hehehe.  Now that MAC has gone all Intel on us, it’s a not a far stretch.  I’ve always liked the aesthetics of Mac’s, I just hate the operating system.

Anyway, time to shave the head and get ready for work.

518 Only

So, I knew it was bound to happen eventually. Just not so soon. Someone hit the bike today. (518 is our code for accident w/no injuries)
I was parked at the post office and came out see this guy backing right into it. I let out a yelp and he stopped just as his bumper made contact. As luck would have it, he only pushed it a bit. What aggrevated me, instead of pulling forward he just stopped and hopped out. I’m sure his ears were are a littled seared though. I’m none too shy and when I’m excited or angry the curse words tend to flow. He was very apologetic but I wasn’t hearing it.

I got lucky this time. I walked out in time to catch it. My buddy kristaki had a similar experience at a post office as well. Who knew post offices were such hot spots for running over motorcycles!

Oh, It’s almost gay high holy day (Dore Alley Fair). I’m working the BCC booth on Sunday. If you are local or gonna be in town, stop by say hi. I’m sure to be a dirty hoe too. Or at least I’m hoping too.

Have a good weekend all!

Random Bits

Yeah yeah, I’m still here. Just not much to say lately.

The new entertainment center arrived last week. I’m anxious to put it together however, I wanna paint the walls first and I don’t even have the paint yet. After my chiro appointment today, I’m off to Homo Depot to pick up some paint. The roomie wants to pay someone to do it so I’m also looking around for painters.

A coworker hurt her leg last week. She came to work afterwards and ended up having to be taken to the hospital. Turns out she had a ruptured calf muscle. I was appalled that they just dropped her off and left her. We are so poorly treated at work. It’s a wonder we still have employees left. Argggh! Don’t get me started. Anyway, I went and hung out w/her in the ER after I finished my shift. I didn’t get home till close to 3:00am. I don’t regret one minute of it though. I helped her through a very scary process. Luckily, she will make a full recover w/rest. I had an early union meeting the next day so didn’t get much sleep. Needless to say, I’m was a bit cranky.

I’m enjoying the new (old) shift. I miss the extra day off but I get so much more accomplished now. My gym schedule is improving too! Yay!

*

I went to see the new ENT doc about my nose this past week. I really liked him and he did more poking/prodding in 10 minutes than the previous doc did the whole time I was in his office. I’m actually just back from having a CT scan on my nose. The good news is I don’t have any pollups. I’m really hoping it turns out to be just an allergy problem as I don’t wanna have surgery. *crossed fingers*

Last Sunday, I hung out w/the boys at the Eagle. It was good to just hang out and shoot the shit again. Hey, I’ll take any sort of social life I can get right now. This past Sunday, I didn’t do much of anything. I slept in, watched some tivo. Beat ratchet & clank again. Oh and I was a dirty slut too. Can’t forget that.

*

I’m bumped off my ambulance ride alongs for two more weeks. Another round of new medics hit the street last week and need on-the-job training. I’m back at it in August though. Actually, thanks to the new schedule I’ll be able to squeeze in two a week now. Wahooo!

*

And speaking of the Eagle, I ran into a guy while there who stood me up on a date once. He was all “hey, how ya been? when we gonna get together again.” Uh exsqueeze me? My polite reply was “never”. He smiled and walked away.

Biker Blues

So the new bike broke down today. I think it’s my fault. Only time will tell. Right after I bought it, I dropped it one day and broke the end off the clutch handle. It was still functional but I decided to replace it. In the process, I may have messed up a monitoring mechanism that protects the bike from starting in higher gears. Long story short, I may have broken that mechanism unknowingly while replacing the clutch handle.

The bike worked fine right after so I’m surprised it took so long to stop working. I rode it several times through out the day after the repair. It’s under warranty and the dealer is looking at it right now. Of course, this means I’m back to riding the scooter till it’s fixed. I’ve been storing the scooter at work and I went down today to warm it up. I laughed out loud after it started up. I’ve gotten so used to the roar of my baby the scooter sounded almost comical. I’m not too proud though. It served me well for 3 years. A couple more days won’t hurt.

**

Today is my last day on a 4/10 shift. I’m back to regular 5/8’s with Sunday/Monday’s off. While I enjoyed the extra day off, I’m looking forward to switching back. I’ll have more time during the day to get to the gym and errands.

An anonymous commentor sent me a nice email today. A bit repetitive but very kind nonetheless. I’m flattered at the thought of giving others inspiration.

Moby – you astound me with your ability to balance the mundane details of your life against your constant revelations. I admire [you] very much and want you to know that you do inspire others. You give the rest of us inspiration to keep going.

Thank you Anon. I don’t claim any moral high ground. I’m just trying to stake out my claim to life and what works for me. I offer my struggles up for examination to give perspective. I’m happy it helps.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Gaydar

No not the website but the mythical skill of devining if someone is gay or not. First, let me say gaydar is never 100%. However, some have a knack for picking the ‘mo’s out of a crowd, myself included.

I always get a giggle out of guys who go out of their way to hide the fact their gay. That, in itself, is a topic for another day. I tease my straight counterparts w/ “I can smell a fellow homo at 500 paces! The eyes are the quickest give away. I’m a roamer. My eyes are always roaming. I can’t help it. The quick glance or stare is always the easiest to spot. Or they look you up and down and then quickly look away. Ding! Then there are the guys who avoid eye contact in attempt to foil your signal. Little do they realize that’s also a dead give away. Duh! Oh and when you are sitting in a steam room w/a semi, I think it’s pretty obvious too.

In other less interesting news, I called in sick yesterday. I feel fine but my carpel tunnel was flaring up so I gave my fingers the day off. I have an ergo keyboard at home/work which is a god send. My case isn’t that bad however, I also have a light case of arthritis in my hands (not the crippling kind). When the two flare up together it tends to give me grief. My roomies works a 9 to 5’er so we took the opportunity to go shopping at Pottery Barn. He felt left out the other day when I did my power shopping at Ikea. We needed a few more knick-knacks for the living room. We have very different tastes it seems. We are making headway though. He likes ultra contemporary and I tend to like lots of hardwoods w/strong lines. Thank goodness we agree on colors.

Oh, and I bought a new watch (again) today. I managed to break the last one. Which is why I rarely spend over a $100 on a watch. I’m hard on my toys.

Drivel

Complete and utter madness from the gutter that is my mind. . .

* I guy stopped me in Quizno’s yesterday and introduced himself. Apparently, he knew me thru my Tribe.net profile. However, he seemed to censure himself several times in conversation. I have a sneaky suspicion he knows me from one of my OTHER profiles. Anyway, friendly fellow. I’m always flattered when folks take the time to say hello.

* Speaking of other profiles, this guy hits me up twice over the period of about a week. Telling me “he’s seen me around” and “wants to get w/me.” We chat a bit and the weirdest conversation ensues about what sports I play and/or watch. In the end, he declines because I’m not “masculine” enough? Wei? I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair. He didn’t appreciate my humor. *giggle*

* My new myspace profile hit 1000 views this week. Not really sure what that means but I was excited for no apparent reason.

* My roommate has so much trade coming thru the apartment, I may have to install a revolving door and a turnstyle. (God love’em.) No, I’m not jealous. Ok, maybe a little. I miss having a life.

* I broke my webcam yesterday. How was I to know I couldn’t drop the new sewing machine on it? Jeez. Of course, this means I have to run out and buy a new one. Because you see sooo many video clips on my site, right? I should take a lesson from brettcajun and come up w/my own jiggy’s.

* Broke my beard trimmer yesterday. How was I to know it wouldn’t bounce? Anyway, I’m seriously considering purchasing the new Norelco body trimmer. (The website is fucking HI-larious!)

There you have it. A lot of nothing about nothing. Now I’m off to S, S & S. Oh wait, scratch the last S, I broke the trimmer. . .

Still Here…

I survived 6 + 6+ (0)6 day. Thank you to everyone for the kind words. I’m upset but I sorta saw it coming so not the end of the world. I am little bitter but I have a right to be. And no, I don’t regret it. I learned a few things about myself in the process so in the end it wasn’t a total waste. Here’s a twist. I ran into someone yesterday that I’d sorta put on the back burner. (I’m never been able to date more the one guy at a time.) I wiped the egg off my face and explained why I’d been so distant. He was still very interested and very happy to see me. Irony or fate? You be the judge.

In other not so dramatic news, I went to Ikea yesterday. Can I just say how much I love Ikea. I could redecorate my apartment several times over for under 10 grand. I wanted to buy everything but bought nothing instead. I’m trying to put together a new scheme in my head for the living room now that the roomie has moved in. He found a chair we both like that he likes and I can live with. The roomie tends to like very contemporary stuff while I like the more hardwood rugged look. I think we can do a merger of both w/some thought beforehand. The chair he picked, while not my first choice, is the right color scheme so it will fit in nicely.

This is sort of a new experience for me as I rarely decorate. I could take you shopping and dress you to the nines w/o much effort. However, I’ve never felt the need to invest time/effort into decorating a place that isn’t my own. Well, I’m tired of living in white cardboard surroundings. I plan to be in SF for at least 2 more years so I might as well make my new pad comfy. Nothing grand or flawless, just some new paint and a couple of well thought out pieces of furniture.

I’m off to instruct class.

Name Dropper

I’m having a “that current popular kiddy bimbo” girl moment…

I ran into v-hold in the castro today. Him and his sexy husband were there “representing”. *G* They really do make an adorable couple. *sigh*

homer also called and left me a quick message. I’m at work at the moment so couldn’t answer. Text’ing me works so much better.

Chad Fox is mia as usual and Kel found a place to live. I even noticed Dunner is back in town.

I had my 2nd “Body by Moby” installment all ready to post and clicked the back button and erased it by mistake. Arrrrrggh! Now I get to retype it all.

I wore a sleeveless shirt to work today and all the girls were cooing. Whatever. I didn’t wear it for them, it is hot outside today. And speaking of, what the hell are you doing sitting in front of your computer reading blogs…get outside! Go on, shoo!

Helga To The Rescue!

Helga!

I guess all my frustration at not being productive yesterday built up. I was soooo productive today.

I. . .
cleaned the kitchen
vacuumed the apartment
bought a new broom, mop, and light timer.

But wait! There’s more.

I. . .
went to the gym
paid bills
cleaned the desk (again)
mailed Large Tony‘s Tshirt (again)
went for a ride on the bike
bought some fresh flowers
and went to a 2nd showing of X-men 3.

I even managed to squeeze in some time to be a dirty slut. Whew! I’m tired. *g*

I still need to do some laundry though. Notice I saved the worst for last.

And how is your post holiday week going?
