So, here we are again. It is thanksgiving here in the States. A time when families are supposed to come together to celebrate the bounty provided by our forefathers. Thankfully, Bush hasn’t completely destroyed our way of life in the past year. Even though, he is certainly coming close. So what am I thankful for?
Well, I’m thankful the American people finally wised up and sent a message to our leaders. And while I don’t think that alone will undo all the damge, it is certainly a start.
On the blog front:
I was especially touched by v-hold‘s thanksgiving post. It made me cry a little bit. What a wonderful way to celebrate Thanksgiving.

One 3Y3 Open shared a very insightful post about his life and direction. A big reason I always come back to his blog. Here is a person, much like myself, who is searching for his place in the world. Kudos to him.

Joe.my.god published a very hilarious vid about Bush “screwing” America. Not exactly work safe mind you but a must see!

Jimbo left us w/a very carb friendly post to ring in the holidy as well. hehehe
Me? I’m especially thankful this year. For the first time in a very long time, I’m not worried about finances or where my future lies. I’m on track in both departments and that is a major accomplishment. I am grateful I have a job and a roof over my head. Yeah, simple but plenty of folks can’t even celebrate that this year. Many more are embroiled in a war not of their choosing and are far far from home.
I’m grateful for the new found friends I’ve made thru the blog world. Blogging has enriched my life in so many ways, I lost count.
So, I’m off to work and here is hoping your Holiday is warm and happy.
Ok, I can’t stop fiddlin w/the blog. Besides the “recent comments” update, I also added a nifty little feature that tracks my comments pretty much anywhere on the web. I like it as it ties all of my online activity together on my blog.
I personally think this is a very useful plugin. Part of the blogging experience is getting to know the writer behind the blog. What better way than seeing comments elsewhere on the net. Don’t ya think?
I was a little put off by the code to install it at first. However, they have a firefox extension that works seamlessly w/the browser. They also have a predefined plugin for Wordress too. All I had to do was install both and viola! Any comment anywhere can be linked back to my blog. How frakin’ neat is that?
Since google’s blogs all seem to be offline at the moment, I can’t check however, I’m pretty sure Joe.my.god knows he was featured in Advocates “Best Of” guide this month. I discovered him completely by accident while getting the hooves filed down today.
There he was big as life. Congrats big fella.
I’m back in SF. It was good to be away but it’s also good to be home. The flight back could not have gone better. It was a direct flight and just under half full. I have the whole row to myself. I spent the time watching DVD’s and playing Blackhawk Striker.
Today, I’m sitting in front of the computer waiting for the 15 billion emails to download1. Speaking of computers, the new spam filter I installed on the blog is working quite well. Large Tony recommended it, Spam Karma 2, and I’ve been very pleased with it overall.
I have a ton of errands to do today. None of which will actually get done. The maids are also coming so I at least have to run out and get some cash for them2.
So I’m asking myself, “was the trip worth it?” My answer. Most definitely yes. I had a great time and it was very relaxing. I needed the time away and the trip served its purpose. I didn’t think of work more than once. I did go over budget but not by much. This means I get to eat more than raman noodles for the next two weeks. heheee.
Sadly, this is the last trip of the year. It’s back to reality and putting my nose to the grindstone. However, I made mention before the trip I was cutting back on some stuff. I’m looking forward to having a little more free time on my hands.
2 I ran out of checks two weeks ago. I’ll add ordering new ones to the list of things that won’t get done today.
So, I finally relented and installed a sp@m filter on the blog. I guess I should be flattered. I’ve reached a level where the daily intake is more than I care to manage anymore.
In the meantime, if you have any problems getting your comment posted, email me.
I attended the 2nd official Choxita de Badlands Brunch today.
I arrived to find kel playing Martha Stewart in the kitchen. Of course, kel gurl has a much fitter waist line than Martha. He is also lacking a prison record but who am I to nit-pick.
Oh yes, there are many more to come. For some reason, I was the only one w/a camera today.1 Continue reading Nothing to See Here… (II)
While I was visiting the doc the other day, we started talking about blogging. He really wanted to know what it was all about. It got me to thinking how blogging has affected me. You few long time readers know I started blogging while dealing a painful breakup. I got so much support and outpouring of concern it was very overwhelming at times. After which, as it often does, life goes on. So, I told the Doc about all the friends I’ve made thru it, how it helped me find the apartment, and so on. He was truly amazed. He couldn’t believe people could do all that thru such a simple medium. Who knows? Maybe he’ll take up blogging. Not about his patients obviously but I’m sure he has a story to tell.
I mention it as it got me to thinking about why people blog. So, if you read this, even if you never commented before, take a moment to tell me why YOU blog (or don’t).
In the meantime, for those of you non-readers, here are a few more pics.
Here I am looking looking extremely excited.
I got invited to have Brunch over at Chad Fox’s house yesterday. It was fun but I wasn’t feeling to well so I don’t think I was a very good guest. So much so, I left early. DanNation, Kel, and the Chronicles of Natoma were there as well. I met a few new folks whose names escape me at the moment. Anyway, Dan took vids and pics so you can hop over and check him out for the details.
I had a pounding headache all day yesterday. I’m feeling better today. Maybe I just needed a good nights rest.
Ok, I have a new RSS feed reader for my pda. Rather than hunting down all your feeds, if you would be so kind as to leave it in a commnet, I’d be eternally grateful!
