Confuscious Say…

My little post yesterday set off a shit storm of emails.  Sorry, I forget sometimes my reader base is constantly changing.

The long term readers knew what I meant however, I got a ton of confused emails over the NSFW post.  Yes, I restrict the more explicit parts of blog. [1]There is more explicit? Yes, a shocker huh?  Mainly, as family and coworkers sometimes stumble over it.  Frankly, I don’t care to share my exploits with them.

If you care to see such things, you have to register NOT subscribe.  Subscribing just shoots you an email when I update.  Once, you’ve introduced yourself, I’m happy to boost your access level.  Click the lower left link marked "login/register".

Be warned, your universal WordPress login will not work (yet).  I’m looking at some plugins that might change that.  However, you can recreate the same user/password to keep it simple.  I know, "God, what a hassle" right?  Well them’s the breaks, suck it up if you want access to the nitty gritty. *g*

So there you have it.  The grand scheme revealed.  Nothing so exciting as many of you inquired.  Just a modicum of restriction.  No, I’m not doing porn. [2]that one made me laugh No, I’m not ashamed, I’m just not stupid.  No, I’m not telling hidden stories about other bloggers. [3]Good lord, some of you need to get out more.

Again, sorry for the confusion.  In my defense, I am 37 now.  They say the memory is first to go.  (shaddup Brett)

Random Smandom VI

Nothing to see here, move along. *g*

Analytics: My blog traffic has slowed to a measly 5 thousand hits a month now.  Guess my absence as of late is showing.  I’m still solidly a "referral blog".  Meaning?  Most folks who find me do so thru another blog vs just random search engine queries.  Large Tony is still the leader in referrals.  Twice the number as anyone else.  brettcajun is holding a respectable second place like a trooper.  And a surprise, Durban bud is bringing up the rear. [1]as he tends to do.  *EG*

Did you know if you put 4 lesbians together in one sitting they will share their most intimate medical history out loud?  My ears are still burning.

*

It was HOT here yesterday.  Today is a bearable 63 degrees out.  Hot weather makes me frisky.  Oy!

*

I finished Call of Duty 4.  I was reluctant to play at first however, it is a decent game.  I still have an issue w/playing games where humans are killing each other.  However, I am an adult and I KNOW the difference.  The online matches are great if you like XBL. [2]Xbox live

I’ve been good about hitting the gym.  I decided to work on bulk the first 3 months and leaning out the last 3 months.  I a little proud of how often I’ve been going.  I tend to be a slacker on weekends but not lately.  People are noticing so I must be doing something right.

I’ve been hiding the daily journal entries as I figured they were boring everyone.  I got several inquires as to why I wasn’t doing them anymore.  Ok, ok, I’ll leave them open.  I will be kind enough to turn off the subscribe notification thingy so you don’t get bombarded.

I think I corrupted my blog database.  My posts are acting erratic.  One from last night just showed up and another is MIA completely.

Look Harder

brettcajun sent me an email the other day asking if I was ok.  I haven’t been posting as much so he got worried. [1]In case you missed it somehow, we Southerners LOVE to talk.  I guess he hasn’t been reading the fewer posts. (j/k Brett)

The biggest factor is my work schedule.  I tend to blog a lot from work in my downtime.  Since, I’ve had trainees for the last two and half months, no free time at all lately.  I’m a very involved trainer and like most things I do, I give it 100%.

Knowing a skill and teaching a skill are two entirely different things.  I’m good at what I do yes but, I’m better at teaching what I do. [2]I wanted to be a teacher however, the dismal salaries discouraged me early on.  Am I the best?  Probably not.  There are plenty of other folks in my job that have been doing it almost as long as I’ve been alive.  Experience plays a big factor in my line of work.  Am I the best at teaching what I do?  Pretty damn close.  The trainees often fight to get me as a trainer.  Of course, I’m flattered but I’m also gratified to know I’m contributing.  I have a strong work ethic and I like instilling it (or trying to) into new cadets.  That said, I am tired.  I’m worn out and more than a little happy next week is my last week for a while.

Anyway, I’m digressing.  The simplest answer is I’m busy.  Life comes first then the blog.  I don’t blog as much on weekends.  And even though I keep forgetting to post my measurements, I’ve been hitting the gym pretty hard.  I’ve upped my schedule to 5 days a week w/4 days dedicated to weights and one day just for cardio.  With all the changes in my schedule, something had to give.  And with my continuing addiction to twitter, I find I can post short quick updates vs the more drawn out effort of blogging.  What? You aren’t on twitter? Shame on you.  Sure about 50% of the stuff on twitter is useless driven but I like that kind of stuff.

So there you have it.  I haven’t given upon blogging or any such nonsense.  I’m just a busy bee.  Expect the madness to return in about a week.

We Interrupt This Blogcast…

Before I get sucked into yet another unnecessary and pointless bitch fight, [1]If you don’t know, don’t ask. Ugh! let me intervene on my own behalf.

Here at the Moby Files, we (as in I) take your comments/feedback very seriously. However, please take a brief moment to edu-macate yourself on a few simple rules.

We thank you for your continued patronage and do have a good day!

Tinker4

Well, I was tinkering w/the blog comments but I immediately didn’t like the way the plugin worked so I axed it. Same reason I won’t switch to haloscan, it takes my comments outside my own server and I’m left relying on the speed of another’s network.

Speaking of, for the life of me I can’t get my comments to open in a pop-up window instead of reloading a page. I’ve inserted the appropriate tag where it says I should and still no luck. Any of you PHP’ers out there w/insight, drop me a note.

Link?

I finally got the Blogroll added back to the blog. My schedule is pulling more of my free time lately so I got tired of tinkering w/the code. It loads a static page for now. That my change in the future.

As for linking, I cleaned up the blogroll a bit. Some blogs are gone, a few new ones have been added. A few people have asked what it takes to get on my blogroll. Well, it varies. Content is a biggy of course. However, there are a few things that will get you there faster.

  • 1) Blogs that have as much to do with the person as their hobbies are big on my list. I like reading about the person as much as what they think.
  • 2) Posting a self-portrait or pics of yourself gives me a sense of connection. I detest faceless chats and blogs where I can see the person tend to perk my interest.
  • 3) Be yourself. Be willing to put your not-so-best foot forward. It shows your humanity.

These are just a small indication of how I view blogs. There are always exceptions. Most of my blogroll I found thru comments left here or friends blogs. I tend to bookmark a blog and read it for a while before I add it to my list. That is pretty much my thought process on it. *g*

Anyway, I think I’m done tinkering for a while. (yeah right.)
