Open Sesame!

Our garage door opener broke this week.  I’m thinking it might be a blessing disguise.  The thing is incredibly old and sounds like a klaxon going off.  The landlord is being very prompt about getting it fixed, calling all of us, yadda yadda yadda.  I’m hoping he will have to replace it with a newer quieter model.  The pain of manually opening/closing the door for a week would be well worth it.

I’m loving the new schedule so far but still struggling to get used to it.  I’m only working 2 more hours per day but that 2 hours makes a big difference.  hehehe.  I’m used to lolly-gagging around till I feel like mosing over to the gym.  Now, I have to get up and get going otherwise, it is too late to go.  I really only have to worry about two of the four days as I only do 4 days a week at the gym.  [1]Well, that is the goal usually.  The other two days I can cover on my day off.

The down side of my new schedule is I get a lot less time to blog and surf.  I can still manage at work usually however, work is often so busy I can’t really focus and that defeats the purpose.  Speaking of work, today royally kicked my ass.  I had a flood of Union related complaints.  I’m tired.

More random shizer later in the week

  1. You know, I did that whole ten hour shift thing for two and a half years… I wound up switching back, I couldn’t handle being on a phone for ten hours a day after that long.

I also did it because of a shift differential that opened up but yea…

You will get used to the x-tra day off eventually and I know I miss it… I haven’t been able to do many errands since…

Give it time… hell I know I’ve actually gained an inch on my waist from lack of gym time 🙁

  2. You can open and close the garage door a few times and then you won’t need to spend as much time lifting at the gym. 🙂

  3. You pay to go to a gym and lift weights, but you whine about lifting a garage door? You crack me up!

You will find the balance with your new schedule… you just have to give it time. Good to see you are making the effort to blog though! I do always look to see what kind of craziness you’ve been up to!

  4. Fairly irrelavant here, but do you know in Chinese, it’s “Sesame Open” instead of “Open Sesame”? I didn’t realize that until I saw your title…

Sorry, I’m bored… I’m waiting for my virus scan to tell me what the heck is wrong with my computer…

  5. First of all, I wonder why my personal info isn’t staying intact in your comment form any longer? Hum. Techno-geek mind at work here. So, you’re doing 4 10hr shifts now? I’ve never done that, but have heard from others that it means that nothing else gets done on those work days. And in your field of work, I’ll bet it can actually be pretty overwhelming and exhausting.

  6. Moby, I read in the Chronicle that the Castro has been made over this week to look as it did circa 1978, beacause they’re filming the Harvey Milk biopic w/ Sean Penn. Have you had a chance to see the makeover? I’d love to be able to see that. I hope they keep the 78 paint job on the castro theatre. I always hated the current paint scheme. too monotone.
