So, I got the bugs worked out of the code (I think). I tinkered w/it for hours. I couldn’t get IE and Firefox to load it right using call commands so I said screw it.
Here it is the official vidcast of the moby files. . . Don’t judge too harshly, I’m just a beginner after all. (The irony is it actually displays much better using firefox instead of IE. How’s that for a kick in the pants?)
* You can download the video here if you are having trouble.*
Firefox RULES – really looks good Moby, really impressed with the quality and how fast it streamed in!
Bet you are gonna have fun with that new toy!
Well look at you!
You know your casts aren’t OSX friendly? No plugin. Unless you got a link to one. Man, what am I missing? 😉
Whoops, strike that. You use Windows Media Player. Cool. I have the player. Delete these comments if you want to man. Oh and HOWDY!
I am soooo glad you posted this vids. Now you and I need to do a Jiggy Dance WHORE OFF. 😉
I have the exact same Logitech Quick Cam 5000. What I do is record video using the Logitech software, then convert it to a Quicktime Movie… then convert that Quicktime Movie to an IPOD movie so the file is very compressed at the end. I do wish I knew how to do it in windows media player though because there are a few people who never get to see my vids. I think podomatic isn’t very friendly with .avi files though.
If you learn some computer tricks with your cam, please share! In the meantime, it was a pleasure to see you LIVE and in COLOR! 🙂
Windows Movie Maker (free) and Windows Media Encoder (also free) will also convert your files to .wmv. I cannot think of a Quicktime solution, though I think the generic Quicktime encoder should work with the .avi file and make it a .mov. You might poke around Apple’s site.
Using RSS 2.0 with enclosures around your media files will make it “podcast-able” right to someones podcatcher, iTunes or FireANT
Your first one worked. Now all I get is a black screen that doesn’t do anything.
Moby….
Please don’t feed Brett’s competitive ego with any Jiggy Dance competitions. HEHEHE!!
Looks like your up and running with the cam. I have Firefox at this end. Everything looks cool~ clear visually and vocally.
And who says you look crusty in the morning. 😉
You can use Quicktime Pro to export to Windows Media Player as long as you have the Flip4Mac QuickTime plugin. Get it at http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm
You can also use Sorenson at http://www.sorensonmedia.com/solutions/prod/sv3_win.php. Though not cheap.
Keep in mind, if you are on Intel Mac, both products do not have a universal app yet. I think Flip4mac is closer then Sorenson to release.
Actually, wordpress converts to rss automatically. However, since I didn’t use the full file path, if you tried before it didn’t work. I changed it to the full path so it should work now w/rss readers.
I actually use windows movie maker on the home pc for making wmv files. It works pretty good. It gives you a variety of compression options as you finalize the project. You can set it based on the device in question or just preset the file size. It comes w/windows now so it’s also a good freebie for anyone looking to get into vid(vod)casting.
Let me add, Flip4mac lets you view WMV files in QuickTime too. Also, if you install it using Rosetta and launch QT using Rosetta it will work. But the Universal app is like weeks away. So I’d just wait for huige speed increase.
I like QuickTime over Windows media for several reasons. But I wish we’d all just do everything in MPEG-4 format. To avoid copyright issues and other corporate BS. But that has it’s own problems. Mainly bandwidth issues since it doesn’t compress as small as other formats.
damn yer cute. and sexy
oooh those cam2cam sessions will be soo much hotter now 🙂
nice, glad you got a new toy Moby. have fun with it 😀
and see ya around.
SWEET!!!!
